SYTYCD10 Top 6: My POV August 27, 2013

Guest "Jidge": Jesse Tyler Ferguson!!!! My favorite guest judge!

Opening number by Sean:
My gosh that opening! Incredibly beautiful!

Paul and Kathryn: Jazz by Tyce
Those lifts are ridiculous.

Amy: This was pretty close to Eliana solo perfection for me

Hayley and Joshua: Hip hop by NappyTabs
She's hitting it just as hard as Joshua.

Fikshun: His musicality is crazy. He will always win when it comes to solos, it's the key to his style.

Aaron and Melanie: Broadway by Spencer
Really good, not my favorite broadway routine.

Jasmine: She is great, I just connect with Amy more.
(sorry all the solos are attached with this one, but it wouldn't let me pull up one of just Jasmine)

Paul: Now to be fair, I didn't get to see the entire thing because the news interrupted with a weather update.  I just thing it's hard to make a connection with the audience with a ballroom solo.  He did a good job, but I am not bought in.

Fikshun and Whitney: Foxtrot by Jonathan Roberts
Whitney is such a good performer! Fikshun did well in keeping up
(can't find a video to show you! Boo!)

Hayley: Soooo good!

Jasmine and Neil: Contemporary by Tyce
Performance of the night.

Aaron- great musicality! Master of tap!

Amy and Alex: Bollywood
Those lifts are crazy!  So much energy-so good!

Paul and Hayley: Contemporary by Dee
One of the most simply beautiful pieces I've ever seen.

Amy and Fikshun: Hip hop by Dave Scott
They danced it nearly perfectly; just not my favorite.  "The difference between fiction and reality is that Fikshun has to make sense"- Mary always making me laugh.

Jasmine and Aaron: jazz by Sean
SOO good! THAT TILT?! WHAAAAAAAT?!

Going home: Hayley and Paul
Jasmine was so humble! What a class act!

Who do you want to win? My choices are Amy or Aaron!

SYTYCD10: Top 8 August 20, 2012 My POV

Group-Opening Number: Some of it is really artistic, and most of the choreo is really innovative, but it is overtly sexual.
(I can't find a video to post)
Guest jidge: Jenna Elfman

Bottom:
Girls: Jenna and Hayley
Guys: Fikshun and Tucker

Fikshun: I can only imagine seeing his solo live, the crowd will be going crazy for sure

Hayley: Lovely

Jenna: She laid it all out there

Tucker: He might be my favorite soloist this season

What's so exciting about this week is that the choreographer's know exactly what it feels like to be in this competition.  They know exactly all the things they loved to showcase on the stage, the things choreographer's did to push them to become better, what it takes to make it to the end, and potentially what kept them from the end.  Their heart is in this in a special way, and while I absolutely LOVE other choreographers on the show this is such a fun idea!  It's also such a great opportunity for the ALL-STARS to continue to move forward in the dance world! I'm so excited about this so!

Aaron and All-Star Chelsea: Jive
SO FUN!
(Can't find a video)
Fikshun and All-Star Allison: Contemporary
Crazy Beautiful! Can she for real choreograph for the show more please?

Tucker and Courtney: Jazz (Romeo and Juliet)
LOVE IT!!!!!!

Paul and Comfort: Hip Hop
I didn't think the "story" was going to go anywhere there for a while. I am surprisingly impressed by her choreo. It was really good, and I just wasn't expecting that.

Hayley and Dmitry: Rumba
They danced together so effortlessly and she looked like she dances Rumba every day!

Jenna and Mark: Jazz
I don't even know what to say...it's just so Mark. Gotta LAHV it. So different.

Jasmine and tWitch: Hip Hop
The way the music put together was brilliant. I was smiling the entire time.

Amy and Travis: Contemporary
I feel like every time you think a movement ends Travis's choreo extends it further, or flips it around, everything is just an inch longer, a bit more difficult than expected.  I think this is what draws me to his choreo.  When I was a little girl I dreamed of ballet, but I fell in love with dance in my modern class.  It was the next step in a piece when momentum should take you one way but you went the other.  I loved the unpredictability of the movement.  I like to take people by surprise, maybe that's why.  Maybe modern dance embed that in me.  I watched this piece twice, uninterrupted and without hearing/reading any other critiques.  I think this was the most anticipated piece of the night, being that Travis's choreo is always a favorite.  I can't imagine the added pressure that he felt tonight.  Let's not even talk about the story...o my gosh.  This dance is just perfection.  Oh and Amy danced this perfectly.

Leaving: Jenna and Tucker

TUCKER????????? WHAT THE HECK!

Please watch the show live so it get's picked up again!

SYTYCD10 Top 10: My POV (August 13, 2012)

Opening: by Christopher Scott
Hypnotizing. Again I say, he is the prop master.

All-star starts!

Guest jidge: DebbieAllen

Bottom:
Girls: Makensie, Jenna
Guys: Tucker, Nico

No solos

Amy and All-Star Brandon: Disco with Doriana
It looks like they've been dancing together for years.

Aaron and All-Star Kathryn: Contemporary by Stacey Tookey
Aaron is a tap dancer! WHAT!

Fikshun and Melanie- Jazz by Mandy Moore
So good...here's my problem..I had to keep reminding myself to watch Fikshun instead of Melanie...so I really have no clue how good he was!

Paul and All-star Whitney: Cha Cha by Jean Marc
Everyone is killing it tonight!

Hayley and All-Star tWitch: Hip Hop by Chris Scott!
They danced together perfectly!

Jenna and Neil: Contemporary with Mandy Moore
That last lift though...!

Jasmine and Marco: Jazz by Ray
Song of the summer!

Makenzie and Jacob: Broadway by Spencer
She looks like she is having a great time!

Nico and Comfort: Hip Hop by Tabitha and Napolean
It is rare form this season to see a dancer that can't at least dabble in every style.  They are limitless. And what was up with the cameramen in the frame?

Tucker and All-Star ROBERT!: Contemporary by Travis Wall
tears.

Leaving: Makenzie and Nico
Although I like all four, I'm dissapointed about Makenzie leaving...I think she had it in her to win.

SYTYCD10 Top 12: My POV (August 6, 2012)

Opening number (Bollywood):
This may be the most entertaining Bollywood routine I remember seeing on the show. I was skeptical in seeing it as the opening group routine, but it won me over. It is very fun.

Guest jidge: Kenny Ortega!

Bottom 3
Girls: Jenna, Malece, Amy
Boys: Alan, Nico, Tucker
Saved: Nico and Jenna

Tucker: Surprised they are letting him dance with his knee injury. He is so fabulous at his own style! Wish we could see this more often! Beautiful.

Amy: In my opinion, this is one of, if not the, strongest solos as of yet this season.

Malece: Kind of loving the song, beautiful dance.  I'm worried for her,  that Amy's solo was just "smarter."

Alan: I can't imagine how hard it is to do a solo as a ballroom dancer. Entertaining, although I'm not wowed like I've been by ballroom solos in years past.

Hayley and Nico: Broadway by Sean
What an out of the box broadway routine! Love it! The lifts are flawless! This routine is such high energy, but it's so seamless you can't tell! I feel like this takes the cake for best SYTYCD broadway routine ever!

Malece and Alan: Jazz
They are dancing in sync, but this piece isn't making me feel anything.  They are hitting all the lines really well.  At the end of the day though I doubt this will be one that stands out.

Jenna and all star Alex Wong: Paso Doble with Jean Marc
Isn't she lucky that she gets to do her style with an all star. So strong!
Makenzie and Paul: Contemporary
So beautiful. Love the slow moments.

Amy and Fikshun: Viennese Waltz by Jean Marc
Oh my gosh I love this song! So beautiful! They have come so far and danced this beautifully!
Jasmine and Aaron: Hip Hop by NappyTabs
I'm SUPER impressed
Guy's mini: NappyTabs
So good! The magic that is Tabitha and Napolean!
Girl's mini
Favorite piece of the night BY FAR!
Leaving: Malece and Alan

SYTYCD10 Top 14: My POV (July 30,2012)

Opening number by Sonya and Dmitry:
It starts off like there is going to be a story to it, then I seemed to have lost the story.  However, after the "story" part the musicality was on point.

Guest jidge: Anna Kendrick!!!! Sooooooo pumped about this!

Bottom Girls: Makenzie, Alexis, Jasmine
Safe: Makenzie
Alexis- love the song, but I don't think it was the best choice, especially for a dance for your life
Jasmine- two seconds in and she already has the better solo.
Bottom Boys: Nico, Curtis, Alan
-Judges don't want to see any of their solos?

Jenna and Tucker: Hip hop by Luther Brown
EH.....They gave it good effort...I couldn't have done better so..I thought Jenna did really well.

Alexis and Nico: Contemporary by Sonya
Yes!

Hayley and Curtis (aka Hayley and Leonardo): Argentine Tango by Miriam and Leonardo
What a beautifully choreographed piece.  It may very well have suited her to get to dance with the choreographer this week...he really helped show off how well she danced this piece.

Makenzie and Paul: Jazz by Sonya
This piece is soooo Sonya and Makenzie is killing it!

Jasmine and Aaron: Contemporary "The Giving Tree"
Oustanding. I thought I would be more invested in the piece than I was. While neither of them are my favorite, they are my favorite couple.

Amy and Fikshun: Hip hop by Chris Scott!!
Sometimes SYTYCD convinces me to like hip hop, and this is one of those times. They were both fantastic!!! Loved it!

Malece and Alan:Salsa by SYTYCD alum Jonathan
I think Malece really held her own! Impressive.

Mini Group: by Spencer
Totally was watching Spencer most of the routine.

Mini Group Contemporary by Bonnie "Bullying"
so good!

Going home: Alexis and Curtis

SYTYCD10 Top 16: My POV (July 23, 2013)

Opening number: all the red is just taking away from this dance for me. Just not a big fan of it, especially on stage.  It photographs/videos so poorly, in my opinion. The piece in interesting though, and I'm enjoying it once better once the costume change goes down.

Guest jidge: Carly Rae Jepson...and I'm kinda excited about it!

Bottom 3:

Girls: Mariah, Makenzie, Jenna

Boys: Alan, Bluprint, Curtis

Jenna is the only one saved thus far.

Makenzie's solo: sooooo beautifully danced, fantastic music choice, smart costuming. Nailed it!

Alan: It's so hard for me to ever know what to think about ballroom solos

Curtis: Great song choice, he kept it entertaining but you could still hear the taps.

Mariah: This makes me sad because after seeing Makenzie I'm pretty sure Mariah is leaving tonight and I really feel like she didn't reach her full potential in this comp.

Bluprint: Animators just kill the solos.

Alexis and Nico: Jive with Tony and Melanie
-3 time Olympic gold medalist...what?! You can go to Olympics for dance???
-Loving the costumes.
-I like it, but something is lacking. It feel like it got slow or was missing a connection.

Jenna and Tucker: Contemporary by Travis
Travis is crazy! He is a genius!
So incredibly beautiful! I'm tearing up a little bit!

Mariah and Bluprint: Jazz by B Freid!
This piece is GOLD! I wish they were hitting the parts that weren't hip hop flavored stronger! Not kidding them is slowing it down to much, this is JAZZ! It ended so abruptly. Freidman's choreo is just so non stop I would imagine it's probably one of the most challenging in terms of stamina and keeping energy up the whole time

Malece and Alan: Hip hop by Dave Scott
Love the outfits! Dang Malece is rocking it! Loved it!

Hayley and Curtis: Contemporary by Dee Caspary
Someone may be as crazy as Travis. A LADDER! I can barely climb a ladder, I would be TERRIFIED to dance on one, especially with abandon! It's rare someone passes up Travis for best piece of the night, but I think Dee may be doing it! SO good!

Amy and Fikshun: Jazz by Tyce
Hobos
Way outdoing the last hobo routine with Jesus and Sara
They are both KILLING it! So shocked by Fikshun!
They are killing it in terms of acting as well
"Cat, that routine was as sweet as a twinkie comeback" -oh Mary
Makenzie and Paul: hip hop by Dave Scott
What an interesting story choice for hip hop. They are killing it, I just like the other hip hop piece of the night so much better.

Jasmine and Aaron: Quickstep (the kiss of death) by Tony and Melanie
Technically I can't say anything but I feel like these two were made to dance together.  They give that old time feel! Love it, and I don't know why it continues to surprise me every week.
Leaving the show:
Bluprint and Mariah
Do you think the right ones left? I think I agree this week.

What a STRONG Week!!! My top 3
1. THE LADDER
2. The puppet!
3. hmmm it's close between the first hip hop and the hobo routine, but I'm gonna go with Malece and Alan's hip hop

What were your top 3 faves of the week? Or if you are more decisive than me you can just pick one :)

SYTYCD10 Top 18/17: My POV July 9, 2013

Opening number: "Pretty Face"
Love the musicality of this piece, how "big moves" come during pauses in music.SHUT UP! It was choreographed by Sonya AND Christopher Scott...that explains a TON.  Of course this dance was amazing!

Jade leaves the competition due to injury.

No one likes that the dancers went home before the show started!  No surprise there.  Glad that they really listen to the audience and switched it up right away.

Guest jidges: Erin Andrews and straight up Paula Abdul is sitting next to Nigel!

Bottom 3:
Guys: Bluprint, Curtis, Jade (None are going home this week because of Jade's injury)
Girls: Jamine Mason, Jenna, Alexis

Dance for your life:
Alexis: Like the music choice, which I think is harder for tap. She's really engaging and is a good performer.
Jasmine: she's dancing really big
Jenna: I keep forgetting she's in the competition to be honest. Ballroom contestants are always great performers. Not blown away, but solos for them are hard and she was solid.

Amy and Fikshun Paso Doble by Jean Marc
"Tractional Dominance"
Amy just slays everything but Fikshun is really keeping up!

Jasmine H and Aaron Broadway by SPENCER!
I'm actually really impressed by how good they are at Broadway.  Surprising a little bit, and they are sooo smooth.

Makenzie and Paul Contemporary by Lindsay (sorry if I spelled your name wrong girl but they didn't put it up)
Very pretty.

Jasmine M and Alan Jazz by Sean
Love everything about this. I hope she stays this week!

Jenna and Tucker Hip hop by Keone and Mari (really can they spell these names for me please?)
LOVE the song choice! LOVE the costumes. LOVE the choreo, somewhat a mix of pop jazz and hip hop. Jenna could maybe save herself with this.

Malece contemporary by Sonya
Amazing, so glad she is getting to dance with Marco (IHOP!)

Hayley and Curtis Samba by Jean Mark
Is it just me or is some of this out of placingly slow?

Alexis and Nico Jazz by SPENCER!
She's killing it, these girls are fighting to stay for sure.

Mariah and Bluprint hip hop by Luther Brown
Mariah killed it

Going home:
Jasmine is leaving...WHAT

My faves were Jasmine and Alan! and Tucker and Jenna! What were yours?
