Perfect piece for Amelia, glad the didn't feature her too much though and it was spread out evenly. I liked it but I don't know how it will go over with the general viewers, the music was slow paced.
Guest jidge:
Christina Applegate, love that they are bringing back the greats from last year and adding some new great guest jidges.
*Thank you SYTYCD for bringing back a little more of a "get-to-know" before hand
Tiffany and George: Tabitha and Napolean Hip hop
"Adventures in Babysitting"
Love the concept. Great movie. Love the set up. SYTYCD is going over the top in props this year. Here's a more hard-hitting hip hop routine from NappyTabs for all of you that have been complaining nonstop since week one. "Could you make that soupier"-love her!
*What the heck, we are in a severe drought all summer and it only decides to "maybe storm" when SYTYCD and beep out warnings that there is a watch every time a dance starts. Second week in a row!
Amber and Brandon: Ray Leeper Jazz routine
New pairing this week.
First week I have really liked these two! The choreo was spot on, and they may have gotten really lucky with this pairing.
Janelle and Dareian: Cha Cha with Pasha!
I think Janelle was great. Dareian was alright, a little soft, I would have liked to see him a little stronger. I think Mary hit it on the head when she said there was no real chemistry between the two.
Lindsay and Cole: Contemporary with Mandy Moore
"Wild Horses"
This girl is a ballroom dancer? You would never know from this piece. Cole too, he's a martial artist and you would never know. They danced it beautifully!
Amelia and Will- Jazz with Mandy Moore
Hahaha Mandy dancing with Will is hilarious. I don't know that there is anything bad to say about their dancing. They were great, but there was something lacking in the genuine area about it that I'm having trouble placing. There was a lack in connection somewhere.
Audrey and Matthew: Salsa
It will be nice to see them challenged a little bit more and see if they are as great as they have been the last two weeks. Although there was a disconnect between the music and the dance at times I don't think it was as bad as the judges made it out to be. I in fact thought they did quite well.
Witney and Chehon: Stacey Tookey Contemporary
The moment when they danced in the silent and then the music and the lights came on during the lift was MAGIC! Best piece of the night so far! Hands down! These ballroom girls are crazy good, you couldn't tell that she wasn't a contemporary dancer either! Yup, the kept the right dancers last week.
Eliana and Cyrus: Hip hop with NappyTabs
Love the take off the music box, so clever with her being a ballerina and all. Love the remix of the song. Eliana did such a great job at learning from what Cyrus is really good at. This is what this show is all about and why dancers of different styles are paired together. Again stop complaining about the soft hip hop, Nappytabs does freaking everything! You got what you want now! This dance was everything!
Bottom 3
girls: Amber, Lindsey, Eliana
boys: George, Brandon, Dareian
Amber's solo: Super strong, but I think she's going home tonight. She peaked too late in a competition that is really strong.
Eliana's sole: She makes ballet so relate-able, in a culture where it is often pushed to the side. It is the basis of all technique.
Brandon's solo: He showed his personality but there was nothing that made be go WOW. He'll be going home tonight for sure.
Dareian's solo: And this is why he made it to top 20. He'll stay, this week at least.
Jungle Jazz guest performance piece
(shown in above video)
Amber and Brandon go home. Glad they brought the good-bye packages back. Sorry that last weeks dancer's missed out though.
